Herb Plant Sale at Elm Bank
Saturday, May 10 2008, 9:00am - 1:00pm

New England Herb Society LogoCome rain or shine, each year, since 1980, The New England Unit of The Herb Society of America holds its famed Annual Herb/ Plant Sale- the Saturday preceding Mother’s Day. It is our primary fundraiser, so we spend great time and care on presenting the finest selection of plants, both classic and a bit unusual.

The person ordering our plants this year is a gifted gardener with an eye for cutting edge plants, and as I go through the list, I can easily begin to dream of the fabulous additions I will make to my own gardens this year. Yes, we'll have Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme~ in fact, there are several varieties available of most of these, but then there is Sweet grass, Snail Flower vine, Verbascum, Mixed Clematis, and an unparalleled selection of basils, too numerous to name.

Calendula officinalis (a.k.a. Pot Marigold) The Herb of the Year for 2008, is Calendula officinalis (a.k.a. Pot Marigold), and there will be many varieties of this useful, colorful, annual available, as well. The list goes on, but rest assured our plant selection is incomparable to what is offered anywhere else- and we will even select shrubs, perennials and a few trees for sale. Some of the plants we will offer are custom grown exclusively for us!

Our member contributed plants are such fun to explore and one can find some real jewels among them!

This is a great opportunity to get a jump on filling your gardens and containers, replenishing your must have annual herbs, and finding something untried and exciting.

We will feature Mother’s Day containers, and we’ll have a table devoted to bee plants with expert bee keepers to assist you, and something new~ an ethnic herbs table.

Herbs in a wheelbarrow Our knowledgeable and friendly members will assist you in finding what you are looking for~ and offer advice on how to use and where to put plants.

There are also a few garden designers in the group who can help you put together great combinations and even set up a small garden plan for you!

If you bring your mailing list postcard with you, and present it at checkout, you will be eligible to win a copy of The Herb Society of America Encyclopedia of Herbs.

Please join us for our 28th Annual Herb/ Plant Sale at Elm Bank Horticulture Center- located in the big field just over the bridge after entering the road to Elm Bank. (directions)

Admission is free ~ and parking is ample and free!

Sturdy tents will be set up for your shopping comfort, in case of inclement weather!

Location: Elm Bank Horticulture Center
